Springboard Preschool
The Springboard Program engages bright young children in fun, challenging and stimulating activities to assist in the development of their reading, writing, number and thinking skills. Research has shown that the early development of thinking skills leads to more rapid progress later in the learning of reading, writing and maths.
The transition to school is an important life stage for children and their families. Moving into the first year of school brings with it so many changes for children; changes in the environment, relationships, interactions and expectations.
Improved school readiness is therefore not only likely to contribute to a positive experience of starting school but will also have indirect impacts on children’s educational attainment and opportunities later in life. For children, positive outcomes of school readiness can include feeling more comfortable and confident, making friends and participating and, importantly, developing long term positive attitudes to learning.
The Preschool Springboard Program at The Swot Shop aims to equip young learners who are in the year before primary school with the skills and confidence they need to get the best possible start to their schooling and educational journey.

Teaching techniques include instruction, discussion, discovery and co-operative problem-solving in a small group setting. Our experienced teachers make extensive use of hands-on materials, and many activities are presented as puzzles and games to make learning fun and engaging for the youngest learners.

Who is it for?
The classes are designed for bright, enthusiastic children.
There is no entry test for admission into our Springboard classes but a self assessment is available for parents to determine if their children have the skills and maturity to enjoy and be successful in the program. Please note that students must be in their final preschool year and starting school in 2026 to qualify for the program.
