Holiday Programs
Join our four-day writing program designed for high-achieving students aiming to elevate their writing skills. Perfect for those preparing for future exams, including the Selective Exam, this program provides targeted practice to enhance writing proficiency as well as typing speed and fluency.
The Swop Shop is offering a four-day writing program suited for high performing students in Years 5-6 (in 2025) who are keen to further improve and perfect their writing skills.
This program is particularly suitable for students who are in the process of preparing for the Selective High School Exam and are looking for additional writing practice.
Students will bring a device to practise their writing online in line with the new online Selective Exam format.
About the Program
- Location: Main Centre – 8 Columbia Way, Baulkham Hills 2153.
- Students attend four days from Tuesday to Friday.
- Each day consists of a two-hour lesson.
- The program covers a wide range of text types including reports, editorials, narratives, persuasive writing and diary entries.
- Students practice planning, scaffolding, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary and editing skills as well as fluency and typing speed.
- Writing practice will be with digital BYO devices to help with speed and accuracy in preparation for the Selective Exam which will be conducted online in 2025.
- Small classes taught by experienced, qualified teachers.
Who is the program suited for?
- Students preparing for the Selective High School entry test in 2025.
- High performing students in Years 5-6 (in 2025).
- Students enrolled in Swot Shop Selective and other programs as well as new students.
- There is no entry test for this program, however, it is a challenging course so students will need to be academically strong to enjoy and benefit from the program.

- Tues 28 Jan, Wed 29 Jan, Thurs 30 Jan, Fri 31 Jan:
1pm to 3pm OR 4pm to 6pm
Pricing
- $300 per student per program.
- This includes all lessons, program materials, marking of homework and feedback.
How to register
Places are limited so please register as soon as possible. Places will be filled on a first-in basis.

This program is particularly suitable for students who would like to practise for the Year 3 NAPLAN exam and get an early start on their preparation for the Selective High School exam.
Students will bring a device as they will be practising their writing and typing skills in line with the online NAPLAN and Selective Exam formats.
