Objectives of the Springboard Program

A child’s early years are critical for shaping their future learning success. The Springboard Program aims to equip young learners with the skills and confidence they need to excel academically and personally and get a great start to their educational journey.

By offering a holistic approach to early learning enrichment, our mission is to set students up for success in school and beyond. The program aims to:

Teaching techniques include instruction, discussion, discovery and co-operative problem-solving in a small group setting. Our experienced teachers make extensive use of hands-on materials, and many activities are presented as puzzles and games to make learning fun and engaging for the youngest learners.

Who is it for?

The classes are designed for bright, enthusiastic and motivated students.
There is no entry test for admission into our Springboard classes.

Key Educational Principles

Springboard is a three-year foundational program for bright and motivated young learners.

The Springboard Preschool program focuses on school readiness for children in the year immediately before school starts. The Kindergarten and Year 1 programs centre on nurturing children’s talent through enrichment and extension to complement their learning in the early years of school.

Talent development, whether it is sport, music, art or intellect is accomplished through a long, intensive nurturing process that begins in early childhood and involves special lessons, teachers and continuous training and practice over a considerable period.

Learning begins in the home and then expands to incorporate various educational and recreational facilities. A child’s early years are crucial to later development and a rich educational experience lays the foundation for future learning.

Children in Springboard attend two-hour weekly sessions in small groups of equally minded bright learners. These involve a combination of shorter engaging and tactile activities to enable young children to maintain concentration for the full period.

Springboard is built on core principles that align with what is known about the way young children learn and develop. The program:

• Incorporates activities that will stimulate a child’s mind and lay a solid foundation for future learning.
• Provides a caring, nurturing environment where the child feels confident, secure and happy. Young children must be provided with structured settings to help them adjust to new surroundings and to learn to take turns and share. This just does not happen automatically.
• Offers a group learning situation as it gives the children opportunities to share their ideas and learn from their peers, which creates a positive learning environment.
• Provides an educational setting which both challenges and inspires children to develop a passion for lifelong learning.
• Is built on a belief that life and learning should be exciting, not just repetition and learning rules.
• Offers challenging and interesting activities that will assist language development, logical thinking, mathematical concepts and the development of thinking skills. Many aims can be achieved using hands-on equipment and games.
• Complement school programs by providing different activities to school whilst building on the skills children are learning at school. Most importantly it aims to give children as many varying experiences as possible and ones that parents cannot easily provide in other ways.
• Our belief is that children should not be accelerated through the school curriculum but provided with enrichment and extension activities.
