The Swot Shop’s Selective Preparation Program is known for its meticulous design aimed at high academic achievers. It is tailored to the rigorous demands of selective high school entry examinations.
First developed over 25 years ago and refined over time to meet the exact requirements of the prevailing selective exam format, the program has seen a leading success rate with up to 90% of students participating in the program gaining admission.
Most recently in 2024, 88.7% of students who reported their results to us received an offer or were placed on the reserve list. Many talented professionals across medicine, law, engineering, economics, teaching, business and many other professions started their journey with The Swot Shop and our Selective Exam Preparation program to help them achieve their career successes.
How the program works
The Selective program at The Swot Shop provides optimal preparation over four terms. Most students start in Term 2, but the program is also available for students to start in Term 3 or Term 4 through our Selective Condensed program. The Condensed program includes twice weekly classes. Each class runs for two hours to ensure students’ time is used efficiently and considers the maximum amount of time a child in Year 5 and 6 is feasibly able to deeply concentrate, focus and learn at a complex level.
The Selective program at The Swot Shop is designed in line with the Selective exam format and includes extensive online test practice and an optional holiday review program offering daily test practice. Parents have access to our expert team for advice and are offered an extensive information session at the start of the program.
The content is carefully planned over the course of the program to build students’ skills gradually, ensuring they have time to learn, build, consolidate and perfect skills before they move on to the next level. Our explicit teaching method combined with just the right amount of practice means that students achieve the accuracy and speed needed to tackle the exam in the time available.
