In this feature, we introduce Angelo, one of our incredible assistants and dive into his personal study strategies, what drew him to The Swot Shop, and why he believes our Selective Preparation Program sets students up for success.
What drew you to become a Teaching Assistant at The Swot Shop, and how has the experience been so far?
I was previously a student of The Swot Shop for many years and participated in the Selective Program, which helped me land a place in a Selective High School. I experienced the program firsthand and it played a large role in my success, this led me to come back and help more students succeed! The experience has been very smooth so far and everything runs like clockwork.
As someone who excelled academically, what study techniques or exam strategies helped you succeed, and how do you now pass these on to students?
My best study techniques are to do as many past papers as possible, and to always use flash cards or any form of active recall. It is always important to remain calm during exams, so I usually try to relax the day before. At The Swot Shop the exam experience is beneficial and I always try to provide solutions to student’s errors as you only learn by making mistakes.
What do you think sets Swot Shop students apart, and why do you believe the Selective Preparation Program is so effective?
Swot Shop students are definitely motivated and ready to learn, and that environment is essentially the same as a Selective School. The program is effective as it places you with likeminded children and exposes you to the discipline and higher order thinking found in Selective Schools.
