Meet Pari, one of our Swot Shop students who this year achieved her goal of gaining access to an OC class.

Read about her excitement for learning challenging, new things and her thoughtful advice for other students aspiring to join an OC class.

Pari’s insights into exam preparation and her love for literary devices are impressive and will undoubtedly inspire others in our Swot Shop community.

1. What excites you most about joining an OC class?

Learning challenging things. For so long I have been learning things that I can do really easily and it has been boring. Now I can learn things that make my brain work hard and I will be interested in school.

2. What advice would you give other students aspiring to join an OC class?

I would say that you need to work hard. I did a lot of practice tests from past OC exams and I learnt that you need to pay attention throughout the entire exam. Look carefully at the question, understand it, then answer, and finally check for mistakes. You have to do it quickly though. Doing it properly at every step is worth it and you will be glad you tried your best.

3. What is your favourite subject or activity at The Swot Shop, and how has it helped you get ready for an OC class?

I really like all the literary devices they teach you. Some of them are really interesting like metaphors and idioms, and others are easy to use like similes and onomatopoeia. In one lesson, we learnt about the most common literary devices people use and it became quite useful in the reading section of the exam, to understand and visualise the text and its meaning.

We are thrilled by the enthusiasm and dedication reflected in Pari’s journey. We look forward to celebrating more of her and our many other students’ successes in the future!
